Rockford-Melvin Mark "Bud" Strang Jr., 88, of Rockford and New Milford died at 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, May
5, 2007 in his home. Born March 9, 1919, in Byron, the son of Melvin M. Strang Sr. and Bertha Gibbs Strang.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theatre during World War II. He retired in 1981 as a
cabinetmaker at Product Display Co. He was a small-acreage farmer and his real love was doing all aspects
of rodeo.
Survivors include his daughters, Margaret "Peg" (John) Peterson and Cindy "Bebe" (David) Farr of Rockford,
and his son, Harold "Red" Strang of Davis Junction. His significant other of 32 years, Mary Cramlett and her
children, Dale Turner and Tammy Voyles, and their family of children and grandchildren also survived.
Survivors also include his sisters, Jane Krieg, Francine McCloud, Priscilla Strang; his brother, Fred "Skip"
Strang; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild due in June.
Preceded by sisters, Mary and Bertha Strang, Mildred Godfrey, Nina Jamison, Helen Fuller and Bernice;
brothers, Stephen, Oliver, LeRoy and Richard and son, Melvin "Butch" Strang; former wife, Margaret and
grandson, John Peterson.
Services were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 in Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home with Rev.
Jason Turner officiating. Burial was in Winnebago Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu
of flowers.
