In loving memory of Marcella "Marcee" Layng
Rockford-Marcella "Marcee" Layng, 84, of Rockford, died at
6:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 in her home. Born Nov. 1, 1922,
in Rockford, the daughter of John and Ida (Johansson)
Wahlquist. Married to Warren Layng on July 2, 1945, in
Rockford.
Graduate of Rockford High School.
Attended Brown's Business College.
Member of Bethesda Covenant. "Marcee"
was very active in Bethesda Church. She
served on the flower committee for
several years, was a member and
treasurer of Kathryn Circle. She taught
Sunday School and was a confirmation youth group leader. She participated in
the Wednesday Sandy Hollow Golf Club, a high school Birthday Club for more
than 67 years. Before having children, she worked at Raymor Manufacturer and
Baunen Printing and the Flower Shop.
Survivors include husband,
Warren; son Michael Layng of
Rockford; daughters Jeanne S.
(Robert) Nakamura of Iowa and
Susan D. Layng (Stephen Walker)
of Rockford; grandchildren Cary,
Jessica, Kyoko, Aaron and Keva;
brother, Stanley Wahlquist of
Rockford; special family members
Mary Sweeney, Charles Williams
and Scott Williams, all of Stillman
Valley, and the Rev. Dick (Paula)
Rassanen of Rockford; special
friends, Marcia Branch, Katie
Tremaine and Arlene Johnson.
Preceded in death by two sisters
and four brothers.
